2000

NC Baptist Hospital is named the first Magnet Hospital in North Carolina by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

2002

North Carolina Nurses Association (NCNA) celebrated its 100th anniversary with a video production “A century of caring.” Mary Lewis Wyche, founder of the NCNA, is inducted into the American Nurse Association Hall of Fame. In addition, a calendar was created featuring nurses of significance to North Carolina nursing history.

2003

Resoultion honoring Mary L. Wyche was passed by the NC General Assembly to celebrate 100 years of nursing in NC.

2008

Russell Eugene Tranbarger, a past president of the North Carolina Nurses Assocation and a past Chair of the North Carolina Board of Nursing, won the American Nurse Association Luther Christman Award recognizing outstanding accomplishments of a male nurse.
