NC Baptist Hospital is named the first Magnet Hospital in North Carolina by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
North Carolina Nurses Association (NCNA) celebrated its 100th anniversary with a video production “A century of caring”. Mary Lewis Wyche, founder of the NCNA, is inducted into the American Nurse Association Hall of Fame. In addition, a calendar was created featuring nurses of significance to North Carolina nursing history.
Resoultion passed by the NC General Assembly honoring 100 years of nursing in NC.
Russell Eugene Tranbarger , a past president of the North Carolina Nurses Assocation and a past Chair of the North Carolina Board of Nursing, won the American Nurse Association Luther Christman Award recognizing outstanding accomplishments of a male nurse.
