- Hettie Mable Reinhardt (1879-1953): World War I nurse who served in Kiev, Russia, and Toul, France. After the War, she became involved in the North Carolina Nurse Association, serving several positions over the years, including President of the NCNA.
- Lula Renwick Warlick (1884- ): African American nurse who served 23 years as the head of nursing at Mercy [Douglas] Hospital.
